The MS-9 was developed from the Sentia as part of the plan of Mazda to widen its dealer network into several channels. It changed the front grille and aluminum wheels of the Sentia and had its own body color, but shared the body and the engines, so some saw the two cars as one model. It was sold from late 1991 to mid 1994 in Japan, with 2.5 liter and 3.0 liter V6 engines. Its model years run from 1991 to 1994.
