The 1993 Viper RT/10 was originally engineered as a pure performance car, with no exterior mounted door handles or key cylinders and no air conditioning, and with side curtains in place of roll up windows. Its 8.0 liter V10 weighed 712 pounds and was rated at 400 horsepower, and long gearing gave United States fuel economy of 12 miles per gallon in the city and 20 on the highway. The car was tricky to drive at high speeds for unskilled drivers, who had no electronic aids.
