In 1998 the 2.4 liter DOHC engine became standard on the ES trim of the Stratus, while the 2.5 liter V6 remained optional. The Stratus offered a four speed automatic transmission, with an optional semi automatic Autostick feature available on the Stratus and Cirrus but not on the Plymouth Breeze. In Europe the Stratus was marketed under the Chrysler Stratus nameplate, as the Dodge brand was generally reserved for commercial vehicles in that region.
