The Stratus, alongside its platform mates the Plymouth Breeze and Chrysler Cirrus, gained Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 1996 and 1997. A characteristic of the JA platform was the high degree of interchangeability among the Stratus, Cirrus and Breeze, with brand differentiation by distinct front fascias, rear bumpers, taillight designs and wheel options. A five speed manual transmission was offered exclusively with the 2.0 liter inline four.
