For 1973, the last year of the fuselage body, the Monaco kept its 1972 styling but gained a new rear bumper with redesigned taillamps, a new decklid and large black rubber bumper guards to meet the new five mile per hour impact standards, which added about six and a half inches of length. Fire retardant interior materials and standard electronic ignition arrived. Sales dropped to 29,396, and the Polara name was discontinued after this year.
