The 1978 mid size B body Monaco was unchanged from 1977 and became Dodge's largest car now that the Royal Monaco had gone, since Chrysler offered the full size C platform only through its own division. The Monaco was discontinued at the end of the 1978 model year, the B body cars continued as the Dodge Magnum until 1979, and the Dodge St. Regis then took over as the replacement for 1979, using a smaller version of the same platform.
