The first Fireflites were the top trim of the Firedome range, wider and longer than the Firedome and equipped with a Hemi V8 and the PowerFlite automatic operated by a dashboard lever. The 1956 car was best known for its long, tapering tailfins, often set off by two tone paint, and a gold and white convertible paced the Indianapolis 500 that year. A longer stroke raised displacement and power. Its model years run from 1955 to 1956.
