1953 DeSoto Firedome

Automobiles

The entire DeSoto lineup was restyled for 1953, and the Firedome arrived just before DeSoto's twenty fifth anniversary as the new top series, displacing the Custom nameplate. Prices started at 2,740 dollars, an AM radio cost 85 dollars extra, and by that year the Firedome's Hemi V8 produced 170 horsepower. About 64,211 examples were produced during the 1953 model year, which made it one of the best selling years of the line.
