The 1991 Town and Country was the first of the second generation AS platform minivans, with the optional driver side airbag, the only year in which the airbag was optional and a second row bench seat was standard. It remained the highest trim version of the Chrysler minivans, in long wheelbase form only, and retained the woodgrain side trim that had been associated with the Town and Country nameplate on Chrysler station wagons since the 1940s.
