The 300 name returned to the Chrysler line in the spring of 1979, this time based on the Cordoba coupe, as a $2,040 option package with special emblems and a cross hair grille. It came in Spinnaker White with a red leather interior and red pin stripes, with the E58 360 V8 of 195 horsepower, police specification suspension, a 3.23 rear axle and 15 inch wheels. Because of the recession, fewer than 2,900 were built, and the planned 1980 version was instead called the LS.
