The seventh generation Malibu was extensively redesigned and reengineered for 2008, with styling by Bryan Nesbitt, in LS, LT, Hybrid and LTZ trims. It offered a 2.4 liter Ecotec four and a 3.6 liter V6, a mild hybrid with the Saturn Aura Green Line system in 2008 and 2009 and a fleet only hybrid in 2010. Its model years run from 2008 to 2012. A mild hybrid was offered in 2008 and 2009, and the 3.5 liter V6 was offered to fleet buyers in place of the Ecotec four.
