The 1983 Impala was a four door sedan only after the coupe and wagon had been dropped, and was the base full size Chevrolet, widely used by taxi and police fleets. It carried on the 1977 body, in the years before the nameplate ended after 1985. The 1983 Impala was one of the last cars of the downsized body of 1977, and the name would end after 1985, when the base full size Chevrolet was rebranded Caprice.
