The third generation Chevelle was the most extensive redesign in its ten year history, with a Colonnade pillared coupe in place of the hardtop and no convertible or four door hardtop, a stronger perimeter frame and the federally mandated 5 mile per hour front bumper. The top series was Laguna in 1973, the Malibu Classic arrived in 1974, and production ended in 1977, replaced by the Malibu name. Its model years run from 1973 to 1977.
