The fourth generation Caprice was introduced in April 1990 for the 1991 model year with rounded, more aerodynamic sheet metal replacing the rectilinear styling, and the Caprice Classic was Motor Trend's 1991 Domestic Car of the Year. The body and interior were new but the chassis and powertrain were largely carried over, and production of 689,257 ended on December 13, 1996. Its model years run from 1991 to 1996.
