The 1978 Camaro had new body colored urethane front and rear bumpers and amber taillight turn signals, the major styling change of its second generation after 1974. A T-top roof was an option, as it had been on the Firebird since 1977. The T-top roof configuration had been introduced on the 1976 Pontiac Trans Am 50th Anniversary Limited Edition and was a regular production option on the 1977 Firebird.
