1972 Chevrolet Camaro

Automobiles

The 1972 Camaro suffered two setbacks, a 174 day UAW strike at the Norwood, Ohio plant and the scrapping of 1,100 unfinished cars that could not meet 1973 bumper standards. Chevrolet still built 68,656 Camaros, and the 1972 model was the last with the SS 396 and SS 350 and the last offered with a factory big block. Net horsepower ratings were adopted that year. The Z/28 name dropped the slash in 1972, and the model remained available as the Z28 through 1987.
