With sales substantially below expectations, Cadillac facelifted the exterior for the 1988 model year, the final generation to have an annual grille facelift. Cadillac introduced the Seville Touring Sedan, or STS, trim level this model year, equipped with the FE2 touring suspension, 15 inch alloy wheels, upgraded springs, a rear sway bar and a quicker steering ratio for enhanced handling. The Elegante package, available from 1978, ended with the third generation.
