The F48 X1 was in 2018 in its third year of sales, a front wheel drive based crossover in the sDrive and xDrive forms, with the long wheelbase F49 for China as well. The facelift of the car was still a year away, due in May 2019, and a plug in hybrid xDrive25e version was yet to be announced. The car was in the middle of its life and shared its platform with the 2 Series Active Tourer and the Mini Countryman, as did all the models of the class.
