2022 was the last year of the F48 X1, as the third generation U11 was revealed on 1 June 2022 and launched in October 2022. The F48 had been on sale since late 2015 as a front wheel drive based car with optional all wheel drive, and it was succeeded by a car that introduced a mild hybrid powertrain to the X1 and was based on the same UKL2 platform. The F48 had therefore been sold for seven years, from late 2015 to 2022.
