In the American market the 2500 and 2800 were introduced in 1969. The 2500 lacked many of the luxury features of the 2800 and, with the smaller engine, sold for about 5,600 dollars in 1970, while the 2800 had a full leather interior, power windows and a power sunroof and cost 6,874 dollars. Both were the first E3 cars imported into the United States by BMW's importer. These were the only E3 models then offered in the United States.
