In 1991 the E32 introduced double glazed windows and the first series production low beam xenon high intensity discharge headlamps, called Litronic, which were available on the 750iL. This put BMW's luxury saloon ahead on lighting technology, and the 1991 changes marked the E32 as one of the most advanced cars sold anywhere. The 750iL, a long wheelbase V12, was the car that introduced the xenon lamps. Both features were new to a production car.
