In 1989 the E32 continued as the second generation of the 7 Series, with straight six and twelve cylinder models in short and long wheelbase versions. The car had been among the most technologically advanced of its day since 1986, and by now it was the clear leader of BMW's luxury saloon line up. Production would run from June 1986 to April 1994, so 1989 fell in the middle of the E32's eight year life. It remained at the head of BMW's range.
