The second generation 6 Series revived the name after a gap of fourteen years, as the E63 coupe and E64 convertible. Adrian van Hooydonk drew the exterior from the 1999 Z9 concept of Chris Bangle, and the cars were unveiled at the Frankfurt show in 2003 and at Detroit in 2004. A V10 powered M6 followed in 2005, a facelift came in September 2007 and the F-series successor began production in March 2011. Its model years run from 2003 to 2010.
