The M6 convertible was shown at the British International Motor Show in 2006, bringing the V10 performance flagship to the open body style, the E64. The standard 6 Series coupe and convertible continued at the Dingolfing plant, and it was the fourth year since the revival of the name, with a range from the 630i to the 650i. The 650i with a V8 was the other top engine of the E63 and E64 range in these years.
