With the 2025 model year, iDrive on the G20 3 Series switched to BMW Operating System 8.5, updating the software of the facelifted car. The car remained in production at Munich, Mexico and in China for the long wheelbase and electric models while the next generation, the G50, was slated to start production in 2027. The G50 would be built from the first quarter of 2027. The facelift introduced in 2022 brought the Curved Display as standard on all models.
