In 2025 the BMW M2 G87 Competition came in two variants, one with a manual transmission and one with an automatic, the high performance version of the G42 2 Series coupe. The standard 2 Series coupe continued in production at San Luis Potosi, and the 2025 year was the fifth year since the production of the G42 began in September 2021. The manual option kept alive the tradition of the M2 as a driver's car, and the coupe carried on at San Luis Potosi.
