The AZ-3 of 1995 was in its fifth year, a Mazda hatchback coupe that Autozam sold, with a 1.5 liter inline four or a 1.8 liter V6, and a look like a smaller RX-7. Ken Arakawa, who had come from Mitsubishi and was chief designer, drew it together with the Eunos 500, and the exterior was strongly influenced by the Alfa Romeo Cangur that Giorgetto Giugiaro had drawn at Bertone. The AZ-3 used the E platform of Mazda. The AZ in the name AZ-3 stood for Autozam and the 3 for the size of the car.
