The 2002 TL, revised in March 2001, had a freshened front end, new tail lights and a six-disc CD changer set into the dash. A Type-S model was added too, with 35 more horsepower for a total of 260, plus 17 inch wheels and a firmer seat and suspension, and the regular car kept the 225 horsepower 3.2 litre V6. A large share of the Type-S cars had automatic transmission trouble and needed a replacement under the extended warranty.
