For 1999 the EL's five-speed models gained a leather-wrapped shift knob like the one in the Integra GS-R, and the Sport configuration gained folding heated mirrors, a sunroof and a better front grille than before, while the 15 inch alloy wheels and CD player remained part of that package. The car remained the Civic-based sedan with a 127 horsepower VTEC engine, built in Alliston, Ontario and sold only in Canada, where it remained Acura's top seller.
