The 1998 Acura EL carried on as the Canada-only luxury version of the Civic, with a 127 horsepower 1.6 litre VTEC engine and extra features missing on Civics: an amber-lit LED dash display, a tachometer, a power trunk with no keyhole, an alarm, 15 inch wheels and heated mirrors. It came in Base, Sport and Premium configurations, the Premium adding leather seats and a decorative spoiler, while the Base had a CD player and air conditioning. Its ride was slightly stiffer than the Civic's.
