Yangwang U9

Automobiles

The Yangwang U9 is a battery electric super-coupe built by BYD Auto for its luxury Yangwang brand and is the brand's second vehicle after the U8 off-road SUV. It was first introduced on 6 April 2023 at Auto Shanghai, went on sale in February 2024 and entered mass production on 16 August 2024. German designer Wolfgang Egger, formerly head designer at Alfa Romeo, Audi and Lamborghini, developed it. Four 240 kilowatt electric motors give 960 kilowatts, BYD reports 0 to 100 kilometres per hour in 2.36 seconds, and the 800 volt architecture accepts up to 500 kilowatts of DC charging. It uses the e4 individual wheel drive and DiSus active suspension of the U8, and set an uncertified Nurburgring Nordschleife lap of 7 minutes 17.9 seconds in November 2024 and a 391.94 kilometres per hour top speed.
