The Willys M38, formally the quarter-ton 4x4 Utility Truck M38 and also called the Willys MC, was a military light utility vehicle that Willys made from 1949 to 1952, succeeding the wartime Willys MB and Ford GPW with about 50,000 units, less than a tenth of the wartime total. It was a military version of the civilian CJ-3A with a reinforced frame and suspension, a waterproof 24 volt electrical system and sealed vents for the engine, transmission, transfer case, fuel system and brakes, and its windshield folded flat for firing. Ford of Canada built about 2,300 M38-CDN jeeps in 1952, a few served in Korea, and the M38A1 succeeded it that year.
