Vision-class cruise ship

Passenger and Ocean Liner Vessels

The Vision class is a group of six Royal Caribbean International cruise ships ordered in the early 1990s, now run by Royal Caribbean and by Marella Cruises. Although Royal Caribbean calls them one class, they were built as three pairs of sisters, each pair differing in size and design, and the namesake Vision of the Seas was the last to be ordered, in 1994. The ships were designed with far more glass than earlier liners, so passengers see the sea from interior spaces, and they were among the fastest built in 25 years thanks to the line's first diesel-electric propulsion, which lets the large engines sit near the middle of the hull for balance. Two of the six were built at the Kvaerner Masa-Yards in Helsinki, and the other four at Chantiers de l'Atlantique in Saint-Nazaire.
