Sterling Bullet

Trucks and Commercial Road Vehicles

The Sterling Bullet was a medium-duty vocational truck sold by Sterling Trucks, the Freightliner division, from 2007 to 2009. It was a rebadged version of the third generation Dodge Ram 3500, 4500 and 5500 chassis cab, set apart mainly by its own grille and by Sterling and Bullet badges, so that a company owned with Dodge by DaimlerChrysler could sell a lighter truck through its own dealers. The Bullet fell in truck classes 4 and 5, with a gross weight of 16,500 lb for the Class 4 version and 19,500 lb for Class 5, and its chassis was meant to carry dump, contractor, towing and box bodies. It came as a two-door regular cab or a four-door Quad Cab, in two-wheel or four-wheel drive, and unlike the Ram it was sold only with the 6.7 litre Cummins ISB engine and either a six-speed manual or a six-speed Aisin automatic. It was discontinued after 2009 when the Sterling brand was withdrawn, and no replacement followed.
