Standard Vanguard Vignale

Automobiles

The Standard Vanguard Vignale was a face-lift of the Phase III Vanguard designed by the Italian stylist Giovanni Michelotti and the coachbuilders Vignale in 1958, and introduced at the October 1958 Earls Court Motor Show. The windscreen and rear window were deeper and there was a revised grille and trim, and a floor-change four-speed manual gearbox was now fitted, with a column-change three-speed offered as an option, together with overdrive or an automatic. The car had front and rear bench seats covered in Vynide as standard, with leather an option at home, and a heater and electric windscreen washers were fitted at the factory while a radio remained an option. The Motor tested a Vignale with overdrive in 1959 and recorded a top speed of 82.8 mph and 0 to 60 mph in 20.8 seconds, at a test car price of 1147 pounds including taxes.
