The Standard SLO was a car launched by the Standard Motor Company in July 1920 as a slightly larger companion to the best-selling 9.5 hp side-valve Model SLS. It was priced at 595 pounds for the two seater and 645 pounds for the four seater, which was expensive for the day and left room in the catalogue for a smaller and cheaper car, the Model V1. Unlike the SLS, the SLO had an overhead-valve engine, an advance that the Standard Motor Club notes was not achieved by Austin or Morris in that period. It was rated at 11.6 hp, and Grace's Guide lists it as a 1,598 cc overhead-valve four-cylinder car built from 1921 to 1923. When the later V2 had its starting price cut to less than half of the SLO's, the price of the SLO itself remained unaltered.
