SS France is a French ocean liner that entered service in 1961, built as the flagship of the Compagnie Generale Transatlantique and, at the time, the longest passenger ship afloat. Designed for the transatlantic crossing just as jet air travel was beginning to erode demand for ocean liners, she later found renewed purpose after a 1979 sale and rebuild as the cruise ship Norway, extending her working life for another two decades.
