The Roewe E50 is an all electric supermini sized hatchback built by Roewe for the Chinese market. It was first unveiled as the E1 concept car at the 2012 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, and SAIC Motor introduced the four seat production version in November 2012. A 47 kW motor and an 18 kWh battery pack from A123 Systems give a range of 180 km and a top speed of up to 120 km/h, and Evonik lightweight materials were used to cut energy use. Pricing in 2012 started at 234,900 yuan before incentives, retail deliveries began in Shanghai in January 2013, and central and Shanghai government rebates were meant to make it competitive with an economy family car. The E50 was the basis of the MG Dynamo EV concept shown in Britain in spring 2014, and the Roewe Clever was later launched to replace it.
