The first-generation Range Rover Evoque, the L538, went into production at Halewood on 4 July 2011 with first customer deliveries in September, after 18,000 pre-orders. It was a unibody car with an aluminium bonnet and roof, on the LR-MS platform loosely based on the Ford EUCD platform, offered as a five-door, a three-door Coupe and, from 2016, a Convertible. Engines were two 2.2-litre diesels and a 2.0-litre petrol, later Ingenium units, with a nine-speed ZF automatic. It won awards and sold nearly 90,000 in its first year.
