The Rambler Rebel was a series of American Motors cars built at Kenosha in two periods, 1957 to 1960 and again for 1966 and 1967. The 1957 car was a single high-performance model sold only as a four-door hardtop, which many regard as a pioneer of the muscle car and one of the first production cars with electronic fuel injection. Its 250 cubic inch V8 was then the smallest American V8 yet its 190 horsepower beat Chevrolet's two-barrel V8s. The name then marked V8-powered Rambler sedans and wagons from 1958 to 1960, and returned in 1966 as a premium two-door hardtop before covering the whole new intermediate line in 1967, after which the line became the AMC Rebel.
