The third generation Rambler Classic applied fresh sheet metal design to the original 112 inch wheelbase and 195 inch long integral body frame, with only the roof, doors and windshield as carryovers. The suspension system was unchanged, including a torque tube with coil springs with a Panhard rod. The Rambler Classic was now shorter than, as well as visually distinctive from, the Ambassador line. For the first time a convertible model was available in the 770 trim version. Its model years run from 1965 to 1966.
