The Pontiac Torrent was a replacement for the Aztek, and a mildly restyled version of the first generation Chevrolet Equinox. It shared the Equinox 185 horsepower 3.4 liter V6 with a five speed Aisin automatic. Trim levels were the entry level Base, the mid level GT and the performance oriented GXP, which went on sale in the fall of 2007 as a 2008 model. Its model years run from 2006 to 2009. It replaced the Aztek and was built at Ingersoll in Ontario beside the first Equinox.
