The Bonneville was Pontiac's senior model throughout the 1960s and was instrumental in pushing Pontiac to third place in sales from 1962 to 1970. Its standard V8s were more powerful than those of other full size Pontiacs, the 421 Super Duty was offered in 1963 only, and a Brougham option package arrived for 1964. Its model years run from 1961 to 1964. The Hydra Matic automatic was standard through 1964, and the Turbo Hydra Matic followed in 1965.
