The Plymouth X2S, also known as the Mitsubishi X2S, was the concept vehicle for the original Diamond Star Motors triplets, the Eagle Talon, the Plymouth Laser and the Mitsubishi Eclipse, which were the first models of that joint venture from 1989. It was nearly identical to the first-generation cars apart from a dual exhaust that exited through the rear bumper and more aggressive body panels. A convertible X2S was shown along with the coupe, but only the coupe reached production, and the Eclipse Spyder was added in 1996. It was powered by a 16-valve, DOHC, 2.0 litre turbocharged and intercooled four-cylinder built by Mitsubishi.
