The Plymouth Slingshot was a concept car that Plymouth produced in 1988 and introduced at the 1988 Los Angeles Auto Show. Craig Durfey and Roger Zrimec designed it with several design interns in the Chrysler studio, as a lifestyle-oriented vehicle targeted at the young people of the 1990s and one of a series of three Chrysler sports cars with the Big Shot and Hot Shot. It had a mid-mounted 2.2 litre twin-cam 16-valve turbocharged inline four rated at 225 horsepower, a six-speed manual with a motorcycle-like ratchet shifter, a carbon fiber body and chassis, a pivoting canopy and twin tires at each end. It won the 1988 Silver IDEA award for automotive design.
