The Plymouth Pronto Spyder was a two-door roadster concept that debuted in 1998, built around a mid-mounted, turbocharged 2.4 litre four-cylinder engine of 225 horsepower and a five-speed manual transmission. It was styled to recall European roadsters, and its bodywork used lightweight recycled materials, largely polyethylene terephthalate (PET), over a steel chassis. The car weighed 2,700 pounds. To reach production it would have needed to meet safety regulations and have better body stiffness, with changes to the A-pillar, wheelhouse suspension clearance and mirrors, among others.
