Packard One-Twenty

Automobiles

The Packard One-Twenty was Packard's first mid-priced eight-cylinder car, sold in two runs, 1935 to 1937 and 1939 to 1941, and named for its wheelbase. It was introduced in January 1935 with an all-new aluminum-head inline eight of 110 horsepower and was an immediate success, with 24,995 built in 1935 against 7,000 of all other Packards, and 55,042 in 1936. It brought Packard its first independent front suspension, the Safe-T-Flex. Enthusiasts regard the One-Twenty and the later Six and One-Ten as the start of Packard losing its hold as the premier American luxury brand. Over its seven years in the lineup 175,027 were built, and for 1942 the name was dropped in favour of the Packard Eight range.
