Osaka Monorail 3000 series

Passenger Rolling Stock and High-Speed Trainsets

The Osaka Monorail 3000 series is a type of monorail train manufactured by Hitachi Rail and operated on the Osaka Monorail since 2018. It belongs to the Hitachi Monorail family, replaced the 1000 series and entered service on 21 October 2018. The trains are built at the Kasado Works in Kudamatsu, Yamaguchi, with an aluminium alloy body, and run as four-car sets of about 60 metres with a capacity of 400. The traction system uses Hitachi IGBT variable frequency drives and induction motors on a 1,500 V DC supply, with a top speed of 75 km/h. The interior was designed around comfort and openness, with larger windows and a Kids Zone for children at the rear of the lead car. Hitachi Rail later used this design as the basis for the monorail trains it shipped to Panama for Metro Line 3.
