The Northrop F-15 Reporter, later RF-61, was an American unarmed photographic reconnaissance aircraft based on the P-61 Black Widow night fighter, and the last piston-powered photo-reconnaissance aircraft designed and produced for the United States Air Force. It was made by removing the guns from the experimental XP-61E and fitting a new nose for cameras; the XF-15 first flew on 3 July 1945 with Northrop test pilot Slim Parrett. The F-15A had a new streamlined fuselage seating two under a bubble canopy, with P-61C wings, engines and tail. Of 175 ordered only 36 were built and the contract was cancelled in 1947. Based mostly in Japan with the 8th Photographic Reconnaissance Squadron, they produced most of the aerial maps of North Korea used at the start of the Korean War.
