The Nissan GT-R LM Nismo is a sports prototype racing car built by the Nissan Motor Company and its motorsports division Nismo for the Le Mans Prototype 1 regulations of the FIA World Endurance Championship and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. It was unusual among prototypes for its front-wheel-drive, front mid-engine layout, using a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 co-developed with Cosworth and a flywheel-based kinetic energy recovery system that could feed an auxiliary rear-wheel drive. Chief designer Ben Bowlby gave it much of its downforce at the front. The program was announced on 23 May 2014, the car was first shown in a Super Bowl commercial on 1 February 2015, and it was retired at the end of 2015 after competing unsuccessfully only at that year's Le Mans.
